Nomination Category: Company/Organization Categories
Nomination Sub Category: Best Turnaround of the Year

Nomination Title: Staff Management

Describe for the judges the financial or operational turnaround achieved by the nominated company during the eligibility period (up to 500 words):

2009 was a historically difficult year for the US staffing industry, with revenues down by 26% industry wide. To weather the 2009 economic crisis, the Staff Management Executive Team, lead by Chief Operating Officer Joan Davison, focused on the long-term and banked on Staff Management clients to return strong. Staff Management retained as much tenured talent as possible, stuck by its clients despite shrinking revenues, and worked to expand its client base with smaller and more diversified accounts.  This was a risky strategy when many in the industry were shedding their unprofitable clients and passing on potentially risky smaller accounts.

Despite the industry’s record breaking losses in 2009, Staff Management closed the year with a comparatively moderate revenue loss. The client loyalty paid off; Staff Management achieved 100% client retention in 2009 – an extraordinary feat in an industry known for client turnover.

During the eligibility period, July 2009 to July 2010, Staff Management and its clients came back strong. Staff Management revenues were up 38.7% during that period, and its clients have rewarded the company’s loyalty with expanded opportunities and referrals. Despite the economic crisis, Staff Management has continued its global expansion; further expanding its international footprint in Latin America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific Region.

In April 2010 Staff Management was ranked the #1 MSP provider in breadth of services and size of deals on the prestigious HRO Today magazine’s MSP Baker’s Dozen. In March 2010 Staff Management Chief Operating Officer, Joan Davison, was invited to address the Staffing Industry Analysts’ (SIA) Executive Forum and was appointed to the SIA Advisory Group. In July 2010, it was announced that Staff Management had achieved its best ever ranking on SIA’s list of largest US staffing firms. Staff Management was ranked 37th out of the approximately 6,000 largest staffing providers in the US. This represented a nearly 20% jump up the much anticipated list of largest firms.
