Umran Beba is the Senior Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer for PepsiCo Asia Middle East Africa (AMEA), based in Dubai, UAE. Umran took on her role in August 2013.

Since that time, Umran has settled into her HR role and continues to lead PepsiCo’s female talent development efforts. She has participated in numerous D&I forums, spoken on the topic of female empowerment and been recognized for her commitment to advancing the female agenda:

•September 2013: accepted the WIN (Women’s Inspiring Network) Award in Prague and was host and panel speaker

•July 2014: Umran is featured in Anthony A. Rose’s "Break the Ceiling Touch the Sky," a book that shares the fourteen success habits of 43 of the world’s most inspirational women

•Presented speeches at:

-December 2013: The Women’s Forum in Myanmar
-February 2014: Keynote at the 7th International Diversity & Inclusion Seminar in Barcelona
-July 2014: Keynote at the Australian Institute of Company Directors in Melbourne
-Upcoming: September 2014: MENA HR Summit in Abu Dhabi

Prior to stepping into her current role in August 2013, she was president of PepsiCo Asia Pacific where she was responsible for PepsiCo’s food and beverages businesses across the APAC region, spanning 25 markets with more than 4,400 direct employees representing 27 nationalities, and approximately 70,000 indirect employees. She spearheaded the region’s project launch of the “Centre of Excellence for Business Skills Development” in partnership with the Myanmar Ministry of Education, the Yangon Institute of Economics and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); the center will provide vocational training to the young people of Myanmar.

During her tenure as president she increased the ratio of female executives in APAC to 41% from 26%; her Executive Committee had 42% female representation. And in 2012, PepsiCo Asia Pacific was awarded “Asia’s Most Women Friendly Employer” at the Women in Leadership Forum in Kuala Lumpur, and was the recipient of the “Best Company for Women” award at the Women of Influence Conference and Awards organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and South China Morning Post in Hong Kong.

Umran was elected in 2013 as president of Food Industry Asia, a pan-Asian food and beverage industry association and executed this role until April 2014. She has been a Non-Executive Board Member of the Calbee Group Japan since 2010, and is an Advisory Council Member for the Switzerland-based Women International Network (WIN) and for “Mentorship for Women for Board Seats,” organized by Praesta and Forbes in Turkey. She has been a member of the World Economic Forum Youth Unemployment Global Council between 2012-2014, and recently elected again for the Future of Jobs Global Council. Umran has also been in Fortune magazine’s global list of the Most Powerful Women in Business, 2011-2013. In April 2012, Fortune Turkey, listed Umran as the #2 Most Powerful Turkish Business Woman.

A 19-year PepsiCo veteran, Umran has held a wide range of roles since joining the company in 1994. In her current capacity as SVP & CHRO of PepsiCo AMEA, she manages the strategic talent agenda as well as change and transformation for this expansive geography. PepsiCo AMEA has over 30,000 employees, spans over 90 countries and is home to more than 50 nationalities with a great diversity of talent. She moved to her current role after presiding over the PepsiCo Asia Pacific region as president between 2010 and 2013. Before this, Umran was the president of PepsiCo’s Southeast Europe region, and the former business unit general manager for PepsiCo East Mediterranean. She is currently a Board Member of Japan Calbee INC.
