Nomination Title: Julie Kampf, Talent Management Entrepreneur

  • Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated entrepreneur
during the eligibility period (up to 500 words):

Julie Kampf has created a continuum of talent management services that raises
the bar for the executive search industry and focuses on diversity for companies
seeking superstars. In only four years, Kampf has built her enterprise to include
three entrepreneurial ventures: the retained executive search firm and 2005 Best
New Company Stevie Award Winner JBK Associates, Inc., the writing service It’s
Just Write, and the new staffing company SummitSearchUS.

JBK Associates, Inc. continually earns acclaim for its streamlined, customized
approach that shows deep respect for both clients and candidates. Its revenues
have increased by 430% since 2003 and by 100% over last year. This year, JBK
Associates gained membership into the elite Association of Executive Search
Consultants and maintained performance benchmarks well above the industry
norm: the firm fills 92 percent of its searches, and 90 percent of candidates it
places stay with their new employer for at least two years. Kampf also sharpened
the firm’s positioning by redesigning its Web site, relaunching its educational
newsletter, and initiating a strategic marketing campaign including a public
relations program that generated 19.6 million media impressions on a budget of
    less than $20,000.

It’s Just Write, established in 2003, helps candidates become more appealing
through enhanced business writing skills and personal correspondence. This
year, The New York Times recognized Kampf as an expert source by including her
comments in the widely read “Career Couch” column. In addition, Laurel Lane
Publishing sought and plans to publish Kampf’s insights in an upcoming book on
    career development.

In 2007, Kampf expanded her talent management organization by founding
SummitSearchUS to serve the staffing needs of organizations seeking middle-
    management talent.

Of particular note is the five-member Advisory Board Kampf established to ensure
all companies under her leadership establish and follow world-class standards.
Her Advisory Board includes veteran professionals to provide insights and counsel
on evolving issues in talent management, recruitment and retention.
Kampf has a personal passion for helping women develop their potential, and this
year created the JBK STAR system to help executive women build their careers
by conducting a Skills and Talent Assessment and Reaching out through
mentoring and networking. She also provided insights for the women’s business
magazine Pink, contributed a bylined article to the women’s networking
organization WorldWIT, and accepted speaking engagements on topics such
as “Opting Out/Opting In: A Road Map for Women Re-entering the Workforce.”
Kampf’s many industry and volunteer activities reflect her commitment to women
and diversity. She is a founder and board member of the Bergen County (NJ)
chapter of United Women in Philanthropy, vice president of the board of directors
of the Metro chapter of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and a board
member of the Girl Scout Council of Bergen County. Kampf also is a member of
the Cosmetic Executive Women and Fashion Group International, as well as a
former member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of
Corporate and Professional Recruitment (IACPR), and raises money for charities
including The Women’s Health and Counseling Center.
