Sharon Virts Mozer founded FedConsulting in 1991. The FCi Federal name and brand was launched in 2011 to recognize a new strategic direction for the company. Today, FCi Federal is a market leader, delivering operations management and professional services, program management services and records management directly to the government through several prime vehicles.
Led by Ms. Virts Mozer as the CEO and Founder, the company has grown exponentially, from less than 200 employees in 2010 to almost 1,400 employees in 2013. It delivers expanding essential operations management and professional services on more than 25 contracts in 100 locations in 41 states and territories.
In August 2012, Ms. Virts Mozer was the keynote speaker at the National Small Business Contracting Summit. She shared her government contracting success story with other women-owned small businesses trying to break into the Federal market.
In that same month, FCi Federal was named the 215th fastest-growing private company in the United States by Inc. Magazine, joining the prestigious Inc. 500 list. The magazine also named it the 17th fastest growing government services provider in the country.
In October 2012, FCi Federal was named the fourth fastest-growing company in the D.C. area by the Washington Business Journal. It was the fastest-growing government contractor in the magazine’s Fast 50 list, with a three-year growth rate of 154.15 percent.
FCi Federal earned a Hire Power award from Inc.com for “Businesses that are adding jobs and rebuilding the economy” in December 2012.
Ms. Virts Mozer’s unique approach to the business of Federal contracting was highlighted on Dec. 23, 2012, in an article by the Washington Post. The article explained her vision of building a workforce based almost entirely on employees with only high school degrees.
On Jan. 3, 2013, FCi Federal was mentioned on NBC’s Today Show as part of Inc. Magazine’s list of “13 Companies 2013 College Grads Will Want to Work For.”
Ms. Virts Mozer was featured in the January 2013 issue of Inc. Magazine as a “Real Hero of the American Economy.” Her company, FCi Federal, was ranked 19th out of 100 of the top job creators in the country and the number one job creator among federal contractors. She was recognized for contributing to job creation, restoring lives and rebuilding the economy by putting Americans back to work.
In April 2013, the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce recognized Ms. Virts Mozer with the Stellar Award. This is awarded to “exceptional contractors that have shown exceptional growth and quality and are positioned as leaders in the contracting community and beyond and have demonstrated a commitment of excellence to helping other women-owned small businesses be successful.”
Ms. Virtz Mozer was named Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year for Greater Washington, D.C., in August 2013. She was recognized in the category of Government Services for providing excellent services to Federal agencies across the nation.
FCi Federal earned the position of 363 on the Inc. 500 list in August 2013.
Ms. Virtz Mozer has recently joined an organization called 100 Women Strong, which is a philanthropic group helping local women and children with hunger, health and homelessness.

Sharon Virts Mozer has over 25 years of experience in the Federal government marketplace.
In 1991, she founded FedConsulting (now FCi Federal). Her company has grown exponentially, expanding from less than 200 employees in 2010 to almost 1,400 employees in 2012. It delivers essential operations management and professional services on more than 25 contracts in 41 states and territories.
Prior to this, Ms. Virts Mozer was the director of government programs for Prentice Hall/Maxwell Macmillan Publishing, where she successfully built a nationwide sales program.
Ms. Virts Mozer was also a program development manager for CSC, responsible for winning programs worth more than $3 billion.
Ms. Virts Mozer began her career as a Federal junior fellow with the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
