Nomination Title: Brickfish -- The Social Media Solution

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated company during the eligibility period (up to 500 words):

Nichole Goodyear is Co-Founder and CEO of Brickfish, a performance-based Cost
Per Engagement® (CPE®) social media solution that has generated 300+ million
consumer engagements and conversations for advertising agencies and Fortune 1000
marketing leaders like Microsoft and Nike. As Co-Founder and CEO, Nichole is
driving unprecedented growth (+368% since 2006!). She recently expanded
Brickfish’s sales force (new sales team members include Paul Botto, the former
head of Google Analytics). In 2010, Brickfish announced numerous new client wins
including: Delta Dental®, BlackBerry International®, and Le Creuset®. Under
Nichole’s leadership, Brickfish has been awarded the Red Herring Global 100
Award, an OMMA Award for Best Viral Campaign, and a Forrester Groundswell Award.
The San Diego based company is VC backed and completed Series B fundraising in
2009 (of note, since less than 5% of all women-owned businesses receive venture
capital). A seven time tech serial entrepreneur and industry thought-leader,
Nichole serves on the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Social Media
Committee and chaired the creation of the IAB Social Media Buying Guide, the
industry’s first ever guide to buying social media advertising. She was recently
elected to the Board of the Social Media Advertising Consortium (SMAC). She has
shared insights about social media and Cost Per Engagement® innovations at
numerous conferences across the U.S. including: IAB Social Media Marketplace,
OMMA Global, Digi-Day Social, Advertising Week, CES, and Digital Hollywood. Her
personal mission: transform the way the advertisers and publishers measure
social media from CPM (cost per thousand) to CPE® (cost per engagement).

Industry Innovations/Contributions
• Viral Map® and Geo ViewTM: patent-pending Brickfish technologies that track
reach, frequency, and viral activity in real time across the Web and around the
World.
• Cost Per Engagement® (CPE®): an industry changing way to measure social
media, Cost Per Engagement brings a measure of performance to online
advertising. Content is served for free, and advertisers pay only when a user
engages with their branded content. The approach has given advertisers a choice
between quantity and quality. The term “Cost Per Engagement” was originated in
late 2006 by Brickfish.
