Nomination Title: Michelle Remoaldo, Senior Quality Manager

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated employee since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):

Selecting a nominee for this award was unanimous. Michelle Remoaldo! Her warm heart, ready smile, and energetic laughter complement her professional integrity, limitless depth of knowledge, and commitment to quality management. Yet, despite Michelle’s many contributions, she is the first to divert any recognition away from herself and direct it towards a team or company accomplishment. In addition, she enthusiastically spearheads ALOM’s annual involvement with holiday food, clothing and gift drives . . . complete with Santa hat.

Michelle leads the ALOM quality management program, reporting directly to the CEO. Under Michelle’s leadership since 2005, the quality program has evolved to world-class levels. Competing against much larger multi-national corporations, ALOM is a supply chain management company providing global services to Fortune 100 technology, medical and automotive clients. Since Michelle joined, ALOM has quadrupled revenues, established 15 global locations, and signed new clients such as Ford, Michelin, and McKesson.

A key factor in why these major corporations trust ALOM with their brand is ALOM’s commitment to quality. Michelle is responsible for establishing and maintaining all aspects of the ALOM quality management program to world-class levels, including stringent ISO standards.

This past year has been one of exciting challenges and achievements for ALOM’s quality management program. Achieving ISO 9001 certification in 1998, ALOM added ISO 13485 certification specific to the medical industry in 2011 under Michelle’s leadership. In March, 2014 ALOM – again under Michelle’s leadership – achieved TL9000 certification for the telecommunications industry. It is highly unusual for companies to achieve all three certifications.

Coordinating and leading an ISO certification effort requires 100% commitment and dedicated organization. Michelle demonstrated exceptional management skill by handling all aspects of the TL9000 certification process from the first meeting with quality engineers to meeting with the auditing body, TUV America for final certification in March, 2014. During this time Michelle interacted with TUV America and ALOM management as the central point of contact to define and document dozens of detailed and tightly controlled processes. Michelle collaborated with all departments to put in place necessary data tracking and reporting processes to be in compliance with TL9000 standards and ensured the processes were fully implemented.

In March, 2014 ALOM was selected as one of only two supply chain service providers to be awarded by the Diverse Manufacturing Supply Chain Alliance (DMSCA) level 3.0 certification. This effort was led by Michelle and Operations VP, Subu Subramanian.

Tracking detailed metrics for 3 ISO certifications is a daunting challenge. Michelle coordinates with all departments to ensure that ALOM’s quality system meets the latest requirements. This past year ALOM upgraded its systems to the latest version at the December 2013 ISO 9000/13485 audit and the ensuing March 2014 audit for TL9000. Working with each department, Michelle set up a metrics gathering system that allows visibility throughout the company to quality goals and achievement, as well as needed improvements. These Key Performance Indicators are also reported during client business reviews.

The foundation of ALOM culture is quality. Michelle is a critical member of the ALOM staff and embodies the best qualities of what ALOM and this award represent.
