Nomination Sub Category: National Sales Team of the Year

Nomination Title: SurePayroll National Sales Team of the Year

Tell the story about what this nominated team achieved since the beginning of July last year (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

How does a company in a highly competitive industry achieve record breaking
growth with fewer sales representatives than before? How could this be
accomplished while loaning representatives to their customer service team to
support growth and maintain inbound call standards? These were the questions
that SurePayroll faced and tackled head-on in 2010.

SurePayroll is an online payroll service that makes processing payroll easy
for small business owners. Unlike traditional, offline payroll companies that
get their business from sales representatives that visit office buildings with
donuts in hand, SurePayroll’s sales representatives rely on the phone to get
the sale, outselling the competition’s reps by double the units each year.

2010 has brought tremendous growth and accomplishment for the
SurePayroll’s sales team. In January – the busiest month of the year in our industry
– our sales team was responsible for a remarkable 32% growth. And they achieved
that with one fewer sales representative than the previous year. Also in
January, every member of our sales team hit their sales quota – a first time
achievement in SurePayroll’s 10 year company history! Q3 also broke new
records in sales achievement, with a 26% overall increase in new customer
growth.

These numbers – in a highly competitive industry, with a reduced workforce, in
a slow economy – are a testament to our outstanding sales team.
Not only did they break company records, but 3 members of the team
selflessly assisted our customer care unit when they needed extra support –
while at the same time hitting their individual quotas. That’s an example of
the dedication of the individuals we are honored to have on our team. It’s
also proof that SurePayroll’s philosophy to hire sales representatives that
work together as a cohesive unit, supporting one another to achieve company
and individual goals, works.

We understand what makes our people tick and compensate our sales team
with an aggressive, uncapped commission plan which encourages overachieve-
ment on a quarterly basis.

Three of our most successful sales incentive programs include:

        • MVD of the Week: The Most Valuable Dialer program motivates our team to
achieve qualifying activity metrics. Each week we award 3 individuals that
qualify trophies that are displayed on the winners’ desks. Recent MVD winner
stats include reps who made nearly 450 calls and had more than 23 hours of
sales talk-time in one week.

        • President’s Dinner: Team members attaining either their quarterly unit or
revenue quota attend dinner with the SurePayroll President and VP of Sales.
One recent 2010 winner achieved 180% of his unit goals and 142% of his revenue
goal.

        • President’s Club: If all members of the sales team reach their quota,
SurePayroll kicks off a contest that rewards the top 3 representatives with
the highest revenue or unit quota with a trip to a warm weather destination
for themselves and a guest. If you’ve ever been in Chicago during the winter,
you can imagine how much they appreciate this recognition. In 2010, 3
representatives went on a cruise to the Bahamas.

Provide a brief (up to 100 words) biography about the leader(s) of the nominated team:

Jason Copeland is responsible for all aspects of SurePayroll's sales efforts,
helping the company achieve unprecedented industry growth over the last
several years. He manages 26 sales representatives with the philosophy that it
is possible – and critical – to hire self-motivated sales reps who are also
dedicated to helping the entire team reach company goals. Jason came to
SurePayroll in 2005 after having spent several years in sales positions with
other payroll companies. Before his payroll experience, Jason served in the
United States Marine Corps and worked as a reporter for news radio stations.
