Network data plays an increasingly important role in supply chain optimization. The index allows greater visibility to users previously unavailable in any TMS and currently only available in LeanLogistics solution. This technological advancement transforms today’s TMS into a business intelligence tool for next generation transportation management.

The LeanDex™ Transportation Index is an aggregation of shipper and carrier market transactions for dry van and refrigerated shipments across North America. Unlike other transportation industry indices, the LeanDex™ tracks transportation rates throughout the LeanLogistics network; truckload as well as LTL, and serves as a basis for procurement events and for developing collaborative solutions. With national coverage of all market lanes used by 51,000 shippers, suppliers and trading partners interacting with thousands of carriers, LeanDex™ provides an accurate, real world window into the North American transportation market.

LeanDex™ is calculated using a proprietary algorithm that takes into consideration rate, rate variance, capacity constraints, surplus and deficit market conditions, and many other factors. The rate index is weekly adjusted calculation, whereas competitive products could be as much as 3 months in arrears. This allows a more accurate real time view of the rate index and trending on any given lane.

Benchmark -Compare actual rates vs. routing guide and with the average rates on any lane -Analyze impact of first vs. second tender acceptance and actual rate -Determine lanes, region and shipments out of compliance

Network Data from the Cloud -Based on actual tendered and accepted rates without shipper or carrier identification

Associative & Clustering -Identify synergistic lanes for both shipper and carrier based on density and financial alignment

Supply Chain Analytics -Analyze ‘what if’ scenarios of national distribution networks and the true cost of market service -Determine market and geographic areas having capacity and demand imbalances Initiate Procurement Events -Moving trends often point to market changes and suggest the need for new procurement events -National view by equipment type (dry van and, reefer) plus zone-zone, state-state and market-market rate matrices
