1. Tell the story about what this nominee achieved in the past year (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:
When Trevor began working for Blue Falls, in September, 2003, he was a shy guy.
He kept his head down and kept to himself. He began work in the Trim Booth,
where we cut surplus fiberglass off our spa shells, and drill the holes for the
jets. It’s a noisy, dusty, potentially dangerous environment that normally has
a very high labor turnover.
”He’s safety-conscious, he always wears his PPE and reminds his guys to wear
theirs.” ~ Brent Barnett, Safety Supervisor
It probably suited Trevor, because he stuck it out.
“He has almost perfect attendance.” ~ Marcel Roles, Production Manager
Trevor learned quickly, and it wasn’t too long before he began offering ideas
and suggestions for improving the flow of product and process. Because of his
modest and cheerful attitude, people listened. He began with small changes to
the area, simple improvements in tool and material storage.
“His attitude is a big boost for morale in the Trim Booth. The three
months I was supervisor in Zone 2, I really enjoyed working with him because of
his positive attitude and good work ethic.” ~ Shane Rowland, Production
Supervisor, Mercenary Team
About a year after he started, Trevor was promoted to Lead Hand, a position he
shares because the Trim Booth has two distinct production processes. However,
by all accounts Trevor is The Man in Trim.
“Co-leads a team of 10 members in one of the more challenging aspects of spa
manufacturing.” ~ Alex Hilts, Human Resources Manager
A team player, Trevor makes sure that all his co-workers are working together
smoothly and efficiently so that product moves steadily through the booth.
“He has helped build the best Trim team we’ve had in a long while” ~
Marcel Roles,
Production Manager
Trevor is often required to go to other areas to help with specific issues
such as repairs or refits. He encourages the people around him, in whatever
area he may be working.
“One thing I’ve noticed about Trevor is that he always seems to be in a
good mood.
Any time you ask him to come out of Trim to do a repair in Jetting or
Test, he always does it with a smile on his face, no matter how hard it is.” ~
Shane Rowland
Over the past year, Trevor has come up with many changes. He devised a way to
reroute the air hoses to reduce time-wasting tangles. He provided input for the
design of new tools. He helped design and build a new scoring/piloting table
that would speed workflow in Trim.
“He has found easier ways to do thing… changed the process in the booth…and
lets
people know what has to change.” ~ Colleen Pittman, Production Supervisor,
Zone 1
Trevor Lonsbury is only 20, but has made his presence known. A steady and
willing worker, an innovator, a team player, a positive attitude. What more
could any company ask in an employee?
“He’s not a shy guy any more.” ~ Colleen Pittman.
