Tell the story about what this nominee achieved in the past year (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:
According to Modern Healthcare, Dr. Erich Reinhardt is one of the most powerful people in healthcare. As president and CEO of Siemens Medical Solutions (MED) worldwide and a member of the board of Siemens AG, Reinhardt has been at the helm of one of the most powerful divisions of a multinational company for almost a decade.
Reinhardt believes that medical imaging and information technology are the groundwork for the future of healthcare. This is seen in The Heart Center of Indiana (THCI), a freestanding, digital heart center that opened in December 2002. The success of THCI is a testament to Dr. Reinhardt's ability to change MED's position and product portfolio.
In the '90s, MED was facing facility shut downs, layoffs, low morale, and rapidly changing industry and customer needs. Known for his tough management style and passion for medicine, Reinhardt determined Siemens needed to offer solutions that reduced costs and improved the quality of care. The answer was the marriage of IT and medical imaging. Today, the company offers the most innovative, integrated solutions, occupies the number-one or number-two spot in more than 90 percent of its businesses, and has enjoyed consecutive double-digit growth years.
