Nomination Title: Workshare Reinvents Work with Continued Innovation in Collaborative Content Management
Tell the story about this nominated product or service (up to 525 words). Describe its functions, features, benefits, and performance to date:
Optimizing Internal and external collaboration is a must for any business today, yet workplace dynamics still hinder organizations’ ability to capitalize on their benefits. Specifically, legacy Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and other legacy content sharing systems lack the necessary agility, including cloud and mobile support, to accelerate knowledge workers’ productivity through document-centric collaboration. Recent research shows as many as 50 percent of employees lack IT support for internal collaboration, rising to 71 percent for external collaboration. Similarly, as many as 85 percent of employees would like to have document creation, editing and workflow capability on mobile, but fewer than 25 percent have it.
Only Workshare bridges the gap between tradition and modernity through its cloud-enabled content management and collaboration application, which extends organizations’ legacy systems across mobile devices, desktop, online environments - in fact, across any channel that could be possibly used by collaborators. Workshare’s seamless integrations with collaboration portals, ECM and Document Management Systems (DMS) like Microsoft SharePoint and Autonomy iManage, EMC Documentum and OpenText is changing the way employees work.
Previously, legacy systems restricted employees to collaborate with internal users only. When employees turned to consumer-grade file-sharing applications to work outside of the firewall, security risks left them vulnerable to inadvertent disclosure of confidential information and losing the audit trail
Workshare’s integrations into legacy systems enable knowledge workers to communicate and create, share and manage high-value content with external parties outside of the firewall and on any device, without ever leaving the secure Workshare and ECM or DMS environment. For complete data security and control in the cloud, IT can enforce corporate data policy by choosing geographic data location options. For the highest levels of security, IT can ensure data is retained on-premise by selecting Workshare’s hybrid cloud deployment option.
In 2013, Workshare introduced a number of industry-first enhancements to its product suite, driving its continued innovation in content management and collaboration:
• In January, Workshare launched the industry’s first-ever mobile collaboration and comparison application for iOS and Android devices. Against the backdrop of BYOD and the consumerization of IT, the app improves workforce productivity without compromising the security of documents.
• In April, Workshare launched the industry’s first ever first ever PowerPoint comparison for mobile workers, which enables employees to accurately compare multiple versions of PowerPoint presentations on any device. The breakthrough reduces the time needed to compare versions manually and also eliminates the risks associated with sharing inaccurate information.
• In August, Workshare revolutionized the legal industry with the launch of Professional 8. Enhancements included the integration of enterprise grade file sharing and sync features that extend existing document protection and file sharing capabilities to the cloud. Professional 8 protects legal documents beyond the corporate network, while simultaneously meeting legal users’ needs for mobile access to files anywhere, anytime.
These enhancements are improving the way Workshare’s customers work. Comfort Care Services, a leading provider of rehabilitation services in the U.K., improved productivity as much as 50 percent once its geographically dispersed customers began using Workshare’s mobile application.
