GSMA Mobile World Congress is a truly international meeting place for th eleaders in the mobile technology, cell phone, and associated industries to gather, collaborate, network, and conduct business. In 2011 over 60,000 senior executives, from over 200 countries gathered in Barcelona Spain. 51 per cent of this year’s Mobile World Congress attendees held C-level positions, including more than 3,000 CEOs.

The Exhibition showcased over 1,400 companies, and occupied more than 58,600 net square metres of exhibition and business meeting space over 7 Halls. More than 2,900 international print, Web and broadcast media attended the event to analyze and report on the many significant industry announcements made at the Congress.

The four-day conference and exhibition attracted executives from the world’s largest and most influential mobile operators, software companies, equipment providers, application developers, Internet companies and media and entertainment organizations, as well as government delegations. An exciting lineup of inspiring speakers from a range of industries touched by the mobile market presented on advertising, health, entertainment and education at more than 40 conference sessions at MWC.

Keynote sessions from Google, Microsoft, and Twitter were live streamed via Mobile World Live TV online. And the Mobile World Live TV team also provided a live broadcast at the event, so attendees could watch live panel discussions, C-Level interviews, news from the show, on-location reporting, and re-broadcasts of the day's sessions. More than 12,000 hotel rooms across the city also showed Mobile World Live TV.

Overall Results: The event was a huge success due to the following factors:

• Attendance in 2011 grew by more than 20%
• Exhibiting companies increased year on year over 5%
• Overall customer satisfaction increased approximately 5% from 2010
• App Planet developer attendance increased 100% from 5,000 attendees in 2010 to over 10,000 in 2011
• And we also had hundreds of thousands of people watching live keynote streaming on the Mobile World Live TV channel produced for the first year by the Association
