Nomination Title: Virtela IT Infrastructure Management Service, featuring VirtelaPredict

Tell the story about this nominated product or service (up to 500 words). Describe its function, features, benefits, and performance to date.

Announced in March 2011, Virtela’s IT Infrastructure Management Service is the industry’s first service to leverage predictive analytics to accelerate the identification and resolution of enterprise IT infrastructure issues before they impact the quality of network service. The service can be activated instantly for enterprises in 190+ countries. The innovative technology behind the service, VirtelaPredict, is able to diagnose 95% of potential enterprise network and security issues before they impact network health, leading to key enterprise benefits including better uptime and significant cost savings. Customers using the service achieve a 5x reduction in downtime for global IT infrastructure and experience a 30% average decrease in operational costs.

The service provides a single source for the expert assessment, monitoring and management of an array of IT infrastructure, including networks from any carrier and equipment, on premise and in the cloud. VirtelaPredict monitors system logs and event data, and leverages a self-learning predictive engine to identify early-warning signs and correct potential issues before service degradation or outages occur. Additionally, the service provides automated network/inventory discovery capabilities.

In March 2012, in response to market demand, Virtela extended its automation and predictive analytics platforms to virtualized data centers and private clouds. Enterprises are increasingly embracing data center virtualization and consolidation, making networks even more complex and unstable. It is critical that these networks are managed by experts on a 24x7 basis. Virtela’s expert engineers support multivendor IT solutions providing design, implementation and management of global data center virtualization. In addition to achieving cost savings and reduction in data center downtime, these experts leverage Virtela’s automation/analytics platforms to speed service configuration times by 90%. In short, these services alleviate complexities to accelerate data center optimization and transformation while avoiding downtime.

Virtela is a vendor- and technology- agnostic IT services company that provides a full lifecycle of end-to-end managed network services. Customers have complete visibility into all services via the VirtelaViewTM portal. Virtela’s managed infrastructure services (and others) are powered by the company’s breakthrough Enterprise Services Cloud (ESC) architecture, the only cloud platform purpose-built for enterprise networking, security and mobility.

Virtela’s services feature the industry’s first “Actual-Time-To-Repair” Service Level Agreement (SLA). Competitive services may offer traditional Mean-Time-To Repair (MTTR) SLAs which are based on an average of many incidents across devices. Virtela’s SLA is uniquely based on per-incident downtime, not the average, which raises the industry bar for superior customer support.

With the majority of enterprise applications/communications reliant on the network, it’s a critical business problem if the network goes down. Furthermore, as data center networking evolves, IT continues to struggle with traditional operations challenges. Virtela’s managed IT infrastructure services address all of these challenges by anticipating and preventing infrastructure/network failures whether they occur in the enterprise, data center or private cloud. The services speed service configuration changes, significantly reduce costs and downtime, improve operational efficiencies and free up strategic IT resources allowing customers to focus more on business objectives.
