UroSolutionsTM, Inc. has only six employees, but its innovative product, the
UroCycler , has won fourteen region, state, national, and international awards.
After incorporating in 2001 its principal founder and product inventor, Dr.
David E. Flinchbaugh, organized a medical device manufacturing team and
facilities to perfect this unique new product for the world marketplace for January 5, 2004 distribution. He has been granted a total of seven patents and two trademarks
describing this device.

The UroCycler is a totally unique bladder management system which has proven to be of great benefit to indwelling catheter users. It is hailed by experts in the
field as "the most significant breakthrough in urology care in 70 years, since the
introduction of the Foley catheter" Health care professionals and patients in
all 50 states and over 30 countries are discovering great value, comfort, and
cost savings with this life-enhancing device. The heart of the system is a precision, passive, low-pressure magnetic valve which restores nearly normal patient bladder
function. Patients report the beneficial experience of reduced urinary tract infections due to "washout", elimination of bladder spasms, elimination of encrustation, and fewer continence problems. This device has earned an FDA 510(k) certification as an anti-reflux valve, FDA GMP quality control standards, Underwriters Labs. approval for the CE Mark, and ISO standards certification. More extensive clinical studies are in progress.

The Associatjon for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation awarded the
UroCycler and its inventor its highest honor, the Laufman-Greatbach Prize and a
Foundation Grant.  The National Multiple Sclerosis Society jointly with the
Engineering Society of Detroit presented their daVinci Award for Assistive
Technology to enhance the quality of life. The Society of Manufacturing Engineers presented their Albert M Sargent Internationa1 Progress Award for significant accomplishments increasing productivity by innovative manufacturing processes, materials, and systems. The UroCycler became the Grand Prize Winner for Excellence in Design, which included a $6,000 Technology Award. Canon Communications presented their coveted Gold Winner Medical Design Excellence Award.  R&D Magazine se1ected this new product for an R & D 100 Award. Additional honors include the Governor Jeb Bush New Product Award, the Governor A. W. Gilcrest Humanitarian Award, and the National Society of
Professional Engineer's New Product award for 2004.

From hospital use and manufacturers statistics, it is estimated that over 30
million indwelling catheters are used in the USA each year and about 125-million
worldwide. About 40% of the nosocomial infections that threaten lives in American
hospitals each year are classified as urinary tract infections. This bladder
management system is finding acceptance in brain and spinal-cord injury units,
nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, long term care facilities, clinics and
medical education centers, and hospitals where surgeries are performed and serious injuries are treated.  Catheters are frequently used with patients undergoing hip replacement and knee replacement surgery. It is our belief that when statistically significant clinical studies are performed using the UroCycler, this device may become a "standard of care" which is mandated for patient safety and reduced risk factor .
