Telerik Kendo UI is a framework for building high performance HTML5 and JavaScript applications using the latest web standards. It provides everything developers need to build sites and mobile applications, including: rich UI widgets, a powerful data source, data visualization, mobile-optimized UI widgets and server-side wrappers for Java, ASP.NET MVC and PHP technologies. With Kendo UI, developers can build mobile apps (using a single codebase) that look and feel native to end-users and target multiple phone/tablet platforms.

In less than two years, Kendo UI has been downloaded 200,000+ times, is used worldwide and is acknowledged by industry analysts as a development framework of choice. In the last year, 100,000+ people have downloaded and are actively using the framework. In In 2013 Telerik has released three major upgrades and established an alliance with Google on the creation of HTML5-based packaged apps for the Chrome OS platform.

New to Kendo UI in 2013:

• Server-side wrappers for PHP and JSP - Kendo UI is the only front-end framework to offer server-side wrappers for ASP.NET, PHP and JSP, allowing developers new to HTML5 to leverage a wide range of familiar programming languages.

• Support for modern web Single Page Applications architectures

• Support for Windows Phone, completing the list of most relevant mobile platforms which also includes iOS, Android and BlackBerry

• Features focusing on modern application, user experience and application performance. Kendo UI is the first commercial product to offer the breadth and depth of mobile, web and data visualization performance improvements necessary for application development— a “flat UI” theme, 30% lower rendering and paint times, and speed and agility

• Industry first responsive UI widgets addressing the need for responsive design elements in cross-platform and mobile applications. Developers can build applications that automatically transform for different screen sizes.

Competitive differentiators:

• A deep history providing developer tools and frameworks benefitting enterprise and large-scale deployments.

• World-class support services organization. This is in contrast to open source counterparts lacking the support required for large-scale deployments.

• A lower learning curve. Based on the most popular JavaScript framework in the world (jQuery), Kendo UI simplifies HTML5 adoption.

• “At the outset, we were big on leveraging HTML5 in order to insulate ourselves a bit as technology advances and shifts over time. With Kendo UI and Icenium, we were able to leverage this technology and minimize time and resources to get our app up and running with ease. The feedback thus far has been positive and we are very pleased with the outcome.” Chuck Cooper, Paylocity
