Nomination Title: Jason Provenzano, President and Founder

Tell the story about what this nominee achieved since January 1 2011 (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Jason Provenzano stands alone as one of the most driven and motivated nutraceutical manufacturing executives in the industry. As President and Founder of Nutricap Labs, Jason has consistently shown how facing adversity will not derail him from bringing our company to the success it has been realizing over the last eight years. His accomplishments have earned him recognition as a 2010 and 2011 finalist for Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Best in Biz’s 2011 Silver Winner for Sales Executive of the Year.

Despite sizable competition, an economic recession that decimated other contract manufacturers, and a multitude of FDA regulations that limited the capabilities of other organizations, Mr. Provenzano has successfully grown Nutricap Labs into a multi-million dollar, award-winning, organization that holds a sterling reputation of providing its customers with exceptional customer service and the highest-quality vitamin and supplement products. In 2011, Nutricap Labs generated over $30 million in revenue, just seven years after it was founded.

The story behind how Mr. Provenzano founded Nutricap Labs epitomizes the definition of taking risks. While working as the COO for a direct to consumer vitamin retailer, Jason was faced with multiple inquiries regarding comprehensive contract manufacturing services that were not being met within the industry by any one provider. Instead of simply turning a blind eye, in 2003, Jason realized the need in the marketplace and approached the CEO of his company to partner with him on a new business, and developed the business plan for what Nutricap Labs would eventually become; the first contract manufacturing company that completed the manufacturing, packaging, labeling and fulfillment of products all under one roof.

Despite his success, Jason continues to grow his company with innovative marketing ideas. For example, Nutricap Labs launched Supplement Manufacturer Reviews (SMR) in the fall of 2011. SMR is the first website dedicated to building an online network of supplement business owners that shares and comments on the latest ingredient, industry and legal news in the nutraceutical manufacturing industry. Additionally, Jason spent thousands of dollars updating our warehouse facility to ensure that it was GMP certified through NSF, which became official in the winter of 2011. Finally, at Jason’s urging, Nutricap Labs became one of the only a few U.S.-based nutraceutical contract manufacturers to become TGA Certified through the Australian government in the winter of 2012. With this accreditation, Nutricap Labs now has the ability to ship its customers’ products directly to Australia, contingent upon a product’s registration with the TGA.

Jason has had to overcome a number of personal and professional obstacles that have threatened the growth of his company. These included establishing an identity that helped separate his company from well-established organizations, finding the right people to staff his sales, marketing, and warehouse departments and adjusting his business model to comply with FDA-regulated GMP requirements. Jason’s strong business acumen and desire to succeed helped him conquer these obstacles and grow Nutricap Labs into the successful organization it is today.
