Tell the story about what this nominee achieved since January 1 2011 (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

All successful companies thrive because of the efforts of a skilled team, and NetCom Learning’s CEO Russell Sarder believes that wholeheartedly. A skilled and knowledgeable team, however, can’t be outstanding without an outstanding leader.
With Sarder at the helm, NetCom Learning is achieving great things.

Under Sarder’s leadership, the company’s success led to recognition in the Inc. 500/ 5000 awards for the fastest growing companies in the nation as well as the IT Training Company Watch awards. The organization has enjoyed tremendous growth in revenue, size and brand awareness, remaining profitable every single year since its founding in 1998.

Sarder has been able to take his company from inception to multimillion-dollar worth by implementing six fundamental principles that make NetCom Learning a growth company:

• Build a strong leadership team—Sarder has built a team with a skill set that matches the organization’s growth.
• Align the entire team to live and breathe the company’s mission, purpose and values—Sarder makes sure all employees know why the organization exists and its mission and values.
• Consistently seek ways to modify the business model—Sarder repositioned the company from a technology training company to a learning organization.
• Create a growth fund—NetCom Learning has a growth fund to facilitate growth and continually looks for capital funds even when capital is not needed.
• Develop a market segmentation plan—NetCom Learning has segmented its U.S. market share into five geographical segments.
• Focus on NetCom’s core competency—NetCom Learning is passionate about learning and focuses on that competency.

Furthering its position as a leader in the learning industry, Sarder has become a sought after speaker on the topic of lifelong learning, participating as keynote speaker at such events as the “Conversation with Leaders” in New York City.

Sarder has also authored two books on learning. His most recent book, Learning: Steps to Becoming a Passionate Lifelong Learner, was named a Finalist in the USA “Best Books 2011 Awards.”

The book has helped create a learning movement to promote the values of lifelong learning, and Sarder has spurred that movement by conducting learning movement events. His “Learning is Sexy” event had beautiful models hand out learning movement bracelets and copies of his Learning book to attendees of the World Business Forum this year. The models gave 700 copies of the book to world leaders at the event. The recipients gave the books a positive response.

In line with his learning philosophy, Sarder is a mentor to Columbia University students and alumni, openly sharing his knowledge of how to build a successful business and the relevance of lifelong learning to successful business leadership. He’s also the creator of NetCom Learning’s Sarder Scholarship Program, which helps individuals begin or advance an IT career. His overall business and philanthropic efforts have earned him the designation of being a 2011 Top Ten Asian American Business Award winner and the honor of being One of 50 Outstanding Asian Americans in Business.
