Nomination Title: Kessler International – Accounting & Investigation Firm Seeks Transparency, Accountability And Justice

Tell the story about what this nominated organization achieved since January 1 2011 (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Since opening its doors in 1988, Kessler International (“Kessler”) has become a world-renowned forensic accounting, computer forensics and corporate investigative firm, delivering precise and timely results to hundreds of clients throughout thousands of investigations.

In 2011, Kessler conducted more investigations than ever before in its 24-year history. Kessler provided its wide range of services to government agencies, corporations large and small, and individuals. The findings and outcome of these investigations have frequently received media attention, and the company is increasingly looked upon as a leader in the industry.

Since January, 2011, Kessler has been at the helm of an in-depth forensic audit and computer forensics examination of Jordan-Elbridge Central School District’s $22 million expansion project. The company has also provided support for litigation of former employees of the Jordan Elbridge Central School District in identifying mismanagement and improper contracts. The results of this investigation have been forwarded to the FBI.

Kessler has conducted several audits of various governmental agencies in locations such as Victorville, California, Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Kessler’s work illustrated the importance of government transparency and the need for accountability on the part of employees of government agencies.

In Victorville, California, Kessler conducted a forensic audit of the entire City of Victorville and its related departments as the forensic consultant to the Grand Jury.

In Deerfield Beach, Florida, Kessler conducted a review of the Deerfield Beach Housing Authority. Findings from the review indicated an inconsistency with the bidding process and procedures for the Housing Authority. The Office of the Inspector General is currently investigating the Deerfield Beach Housing Authority.

In Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, Kessler found that the City of Lauderdale Lakes improperly took approximately $2.5 million from the City of Lauderdale Lakes Community Redevelopment Agency during the 2010 fiscal year. This money was not adequately documented, and no loan documentation was drafted to show any repayment plans by the City.

Kessler has been retained by a client to conduct a forensic audit of a “Racino” located in the United States. During the audit, Kessler determined that the General Contractor of the project was allocating expenses from other unaffiliated projects to the client, including regular trips to Florida and Las Vegas. It was also determined that the General Contractor failed to conduct fair bidding practices when choosing subcontractors.

Kessler’s brand protection operations consisted of several large-scale investigations involving the monitoring of trade wires for diverted goods, as well as obtaining counterfeit goods and exposing the individuals and companies responsible for them.

The tireless efforts of Kessler have not gone unnoticed: Kessler is listed as a preeminent expert service provider by AM Best. Additionally, Kessler was awarded the 2011 Accounting Firm of the Year for North America by ACQ Global, the 2010 Global Business Excellence Award for Outstanding Risk Consultancy Solutions and given a Stevie Award for Accounting Company of the year in the 2011 International Business Awards. The company was also the recipient of a Crème de la Crème Award.
