A hallmark of the Farbman Group culture is “Farbman Cares,” the company’s internal committee and formal corporate social responsibility program, which organizes and coordinates initiatives demonstrating the organization’s commitment to employees, clients and community.

Each initiative strives to leave the world a better place through its efforts and causes and adopted based on employee recommendations and interests. A calendar of initiatives is created and nonprofit endeavors are then conducted throughout much of the year.

During 2014, significant initiatives included: a benefit for Beyond Basics, Christmas in January and sponsorship of the Salvation Army of Detroit’s Fifth Annual Detroit Red Wings Alumni Charity Game and Skate-A-Thon.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
In August, Farbman Group hosted a weeklong back-to-school supplies drive for Beyond Basics, a student-centered literacy nonprofit serving Detroit Public Schools since 2002. The company collected a variety of supplies, including collecting spiral notebooks, crayons, pencils, highlighters, scissors, note cards, backpacks, glue sticks, hand sanitizer and tissues, at its offices located in Southfield, Bingham Farms, Troy and Detroit.

CHRISTMAS IN JANUARY FOOD DRIVE
Throughout the month of January, Farbman group held its annual “Christmas in July Food Drive. Proceeds from this fifth annual event benefitted Gleaners Community Food Bank. A total of 1,892 pounds of assorted food and $125 were collected. This generous donation resulted in 1,952 meals for people in need.

SALVATION ARMY OF DETROIT'S FIFTH ANNUAL DETROIT RED WINGS ALUMNI CHARITY GAME AND SKATE-A-THON
Farbman Group sponsored the annual event with proceeds benefitting the Salvation Army’s Bed & Bread Program, which provides shelter and serves more than 5,000 meals each day (1.8 million annually) to men, women and children who would otherwise go without. The two-day event hosted at the Troy (Mich.) Sports Center opened with a Skate-A-Thon and concluded with a hockey game matching former Detroit Red Wings players versus members from the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Troy Sting, as well as the Troy Youth Hockey Association.
