Tell the story about what this nominated company achieved since January 1 2008 (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Managing vehicle emissions can represent a key – and highly visible – component
of an effective environmental stewardship effort.  Enterprise Fleet Management
estimates that the average fleet vehicle each year will log 20,000 miles and
emit anywhere from 19,000 to 27,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2).

To help companies with medium-size fleets take advantage of environmental best
practices, Enterprise Fleet Management in 2008 introduced an aggressive set of
programs and initiatives to reduce the “carbon footprint” of customer’s cars,
light and medium duty trucks and service vehicles.  Based on customer data
collected in 2008, Enterprise offset an average of 15,000 pounds of CO2 per
vehicle from participating customers.

Three unique aspects of Enterprise’s program included a nationwide education
outreach program to businesses and a dedicated web page on reducing greenhouse
gas emissions.

• Enterprise Fleet Management pledged $1 million through the Enterprise
charitable foundation to match a portion of each fleet customer’s greenhouse
gas offset purchase.

• Throughout the year, Enterprise Fleet Management wrote and distributed
articles to hundreds of trade association newsletters nationwide on topics
including: Driving to Reduce Environmental Impact, Earth Friendly Fleet
Management Practices, Green Driving Tips, Servicing Hybrids, Understanding
FlexFuel, and others.

• A dedicated website at www.fleet.keystogreen.com  was developed to provide
more information on how businesses may participate with Enterprise to reduce
greenhouse gases and air pollution.

Enterprise’s environmental platform is the most comprehensive program in the
industry for businesses with medium-size fleets.  The main components include:

• Vehicle Cycling/Fleet Optimization – Enterprise provides comprehensive data
for measuring fleet emissions, project improvements in fuel efficiency and
direct and indirect remediation costs.

• Emerging Fuel and Engine Technologies – With the largest fleet of FlexFuel
and thousands of gas-electric hybrids, Enterprise  has firsthand knowledge to
help customers make smart decisions about new engine technologies.

• Offsetting Greenhouse Gas Emissions – Enterprise helps customers purchase
verifiable greenhouse gas emissions through a trusted third-party partner.

• Fleet Emission Footprint Analysis – Enterprise helps businesses analyze
options to balance or mitigate emissions by measuring the carbon footprint of
individual vehicles in a company’s fleet.

Response to the matching program for greenhouse gas offset purchases was
enthusiastic.

• In Spokane, Wash., Family Home Care & Hospice set an example in its industry
by participating in Enterprise’s carbon offset program   “Considering that
mileage totals approximately 300,000 miles/year for 20 nurses and therapists,
the environmental impact is significant,” said Michael Nowling, President,
Family Home Care & Hospice.

• PJ’s Coffee a New Orleans-based roaster with franchise operations throughout
the Gulf Coast, estimates that each of its vehicles averages 20,000 to 30,000
miles/year. “Before switching to company-owned cars, some drivers had older
cars that were not fuel efficient.  Having a new fleet of fuel efficient
vehicles and participating in the carbon offset program benefits our business
and the environment,” said Scott Ballard, President, PJ’s Coffee.

• AT Home Care, Virginia’s largest independent home health care agency, also is
participating in Enterprise’s carbon offset program for its fleet of 33 fuel
efficient vehicles.  “Our employees not only appreciate the new cars and better
fuel efficiency, they are pleased with our commitment to the environment,” said
Ed Kassab, President, AT Home Care.
